Weight loss and metabolic management are the main goals of treatment for nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), which were recently renamed metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and MASH, respectively. Patients with extensive scarring are mostly treated with diet, exercise, and the FDA-approved drug resmetirom (Rezdiffra).
