Hi @JohnSS, thank you for opening this discussion. Let me tag some other members who can possibly share with you.
Hi everyone, how are you today? Do any of you also experience frequent nighttime urination? Do you know if it's linked to your sleep apnea? Do you take anything for it?

I don't think that this is related to Apnea. For men, most likely related to age and prostate. Drinking anything too late in the evening prior to going to bed may also be a driving factor for some. Having several other underlying issues, as well as apnea, and taking meds for each, I need to drink about a gallon of water daily. End up waking at least once or twice nightly to get up and go...

Yes, I do but usually just once a night. It usually happens to me more in the winter season and not so much in the summer time.

@Gordon I'm about to turn 70 and have been battling prostate issues for over 20 years. (My urologist currently has me on Flomax, Hytrin and Avodart.) My philosophy towards fluids and bedtime has changed through the years. I used to limit fluid intake after 5 PM. But I found I was still waking up with the urge to urinate but standing in front of the toilet playing the waiting game - often times 5 minutes or so until I voided. And the amount of times I woke, usually every 2-3 hours did not change. So years ago I just went ahead and drank fluids up until bedtime. Still woke up every 2-3 hours but the positive change was that I could void almost immediately which made it easier to go back to sleep. The changes I made in my life which I think helped my prostate situation was to limit caffeine and alcohol. When I went to caffeine free coffee and cola and pretty much gave up on beer (which I really miss), I noticed a distinct improvement in my ability to urinate,

Thanks for the comment. Hopefully I will get a referral to a urologist soon. My Primary has changed three times since last October and will see if this one is any good. I haven't drank much if any soda in over 10 years, my caffeine intake is only a cup or two first thing in the morning, and very limited alcohol. With current exacerbations of the COPD and taking the Prednisone on top of the other 10 medications, I rarely have an alcoholic beverage. Regarding age, I am only about 1 year behind you.
Waking every 2-3 hours is the current problem. That, and unable to stand over the toilet for 5 minutes in the middle of the night requires that I sit and wait...Hopefully I will have the referral soon and look into the Flomax, Hytrin and Avodart, to add to the myriad of current medications.

Does anyone else wake up a lot during the night to use the bathroom? Is this a sleep apnea thing or an old age thing
