It is not easy to know the experiences of each member or who to reach out to for advice. However, knowing that another person with NASH or NAFLD shares similar experiences or concerns as you can be a relief, and establishing communication between each other can prove to be very valuable.

Therefore. we encourage all members in the NAFLD and NASH community to introduce themselves to help establish such connections!

To introduce yourself to the community, share a little about your story, when you were diagnosed, experiences with lupus, concerns, etc.

Hi... I have NASH and struggled to receive a diagnosis. I suffered with pain in my abdomen and fatigue but the doctors gave me other diagnoses or said I was fine. However, once I did finally receive the diagnosis, I was thankful, but I did not really understand the disease. I was confused, especially from its name. I have done a lot of learning on my own.

My main worry is getting cirrhosis of the liver.

Hello!

My name is lutoao. I was diagnosed with NASH about 6 years ago. It was a journey, as I fit and healthy and really do not recall having any symptoms; however, during a physical my GP detected an issue with my liver and referred me to a specialist, who diagnosed me with NASH. It was a surprise because I had stopped drinking years before this diagnosis in attempt to become healthier... I realize that alcohol is not a true "cause" of the disease, but it does increase damage to the liver.

Currently, I am focused on eating healthy, staying fit, and taking care of my body with herbs and supplements as best as I can. My main goal is to void off any further damage to the liver.

I have come to contribute my diagnosis to my diet and way of life... I was overweight, did not really monitor what I ate and enjoyed eating sugary, fat foods, unfortunately.

Since my diagnosis, the main change I have made is my way of life. The greatest change came in my diet. I have cut out any and all trans fats and pretty much saturated fats. I eat a limited amount of unsaturated fats and try to only eat complex carbs (high GI - foods), I also have stopped drinking soda and refrain from drinking drinks high in sodium.

What changes did others make once they received the diagnosis?

Hello everyone,

Just found out about this site today. I have NAFL, or "lean NASH".  I was in complete shock when I was diagnosed because I was in pretty good shape (not an athlete or anything but not overweight), ate well, all that. I was having really bad fatigue, back pain, and then occasional pain on my right side, but I just assumed everytime it was just a "stitch". My doctor noticed irregularities in a routine blood test, and then a few weeks later after many appointments, other tests, we came to NAFL. Now I'm focusing on my health full-force, trying to eat better, have stopped drinking and am trying to stay moving. I'm trying to few my NAFL as something that makes me unique and not as something to drag me down.

Let me know if anyone ever wants to chat or share tips!

Hi I have NASH, diabetes type 2, and a few other things. I'm not quite sure about this disease. No help from home if you don't look sick your not sick. That's the saying at my house. I'm having a hard time to understand the diet on this disease and my biggest fear is getting cirrhosis of the liver. I am obese. I'm scared of this disease because I don't know how fast it grows or what condition my liver is in.

Anyone wants to talk I'm open for help.

Hello everyone,

How are you doing? emoticon cute  I thought I would comment on this discussion as we have a few new members to our community who may not have seen it yet!

So, let's get to know one another! What is your NASH or NAFLD story? How and when were you diagnosed? What symptoms did you have prior to your diagnosis, if any? How are you doing today? What medications or treatments have you tried? Do you have any advice to share with someone newly diagnosed with NASH or NAFLD?

I was diagnosed at 13 to 14 years old, no treatment was given. All the doctor said to do was lose weight & that would help. I had no symptoms prior & am great today! I did lose weight so that could've helped.
