I've been using good hygiene, wearing face masks, and eating well to keep my blood sugar from fluctuating too much. I also keep my hands away from my face and practice social distancing wherever I go. I am concerned because along with diabetes, I have other comorbidities and I'm over 60 so this places me in the high risk category but I don't live a life running and hiding from COVID-19, rather I use care and keep clean and masked and this has not diminished my lifestyle too much.

Hello everyone,
I thought I would come back to this discussion and see how everyone is doing as COVID-19 numbers have started to really escalate?
How are you holding up? Have you changed anything in your daily routine since the stay-at-home orders to help you stay safe? Have you had any advice from your doctor or medical team?

@Courtney_J Doing ok over here. They've started closing things down again in my area and there's a curfew through the holidays. Trying to take things as they come and stay positive and safe with my family at home. Being diabetic and overweight puts me at risk so I'm just trying to be careful until I can hopefully get the vaccine. Does anyone know if it's safe/approved for people with diabetes? Or is it just for the general population?

First part of November I along with my Dad got covid-19. My Dad was quickly admitted, put on a ventilator after a few days, his blood sugar was 450. It attacked his kidneys (he's diabetic) and he never recovered, I was really sick, fever, weak, trouble breathing but refused to go to the ER, afraid they would put me on ventilator also. Thankfully I did recover. My advice is don't be afraid to get treated.

Hello everyone,
Since the Coronavirus pandemic concerns many Americans (and Carenity members too), I've created this discussion to allow you to talk specifically about the virus in the context of Type 2 diabetes, as we all know that people with underlying health conditions can be more affected.
Are you worried about the coronavirus? Have you received any special instructions from your doctor regarding your care? Are you going to limit your travel? Do you have any advice for others?
Take care,
Courtney
