Hi everyone,

There are many ways a person may find support when dealing with a chronic condition, such as nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis. Each person experiences different symptoms and complications of NAFLD and at varying extremes, as well as each person deals with these symptoms and complications uniquely.

Some people find support through family, others through online communities - such as Carenity, others may find support through local support groups, etc.

How do you find support? Are there times when dealing with the condition where having that support is more imperative?

Share and discuss with others.

When the initial diagnosis came and I was experiencing more severe abdominal pain, I relied on my spouse for support. However, now, I am doing OK and taking preventative actions to not allow it to progress to cirrhosis.

For support now, I still talk to my spouse when I have symptoms or about concerns, but I tend to use Google a lot more and this forum more often as well.

I find support through a couple of good friends and family. A couple of my friends really try to understand me when I am experiencing discomfort, but for the most part... I have the condition under control to an extent... so it is not as bad as it once was. I appreciate the ones who were there during that time with the support.

I'm still struggling, but I found a support group in a town within driving distance of mine. Look on Facebook, it's often surprising where you'll see groups pop up
