Being positive is a mental game mostly. Yes, our physical selves (COPD, pain, etc.) affects our mental, but I feel like our brain is separate and we can control how we perceive life and it is when we allow our physical part to control and affect are mental part that we fall into depression because we focus on the negatives.
For me, I try to focus on what I can do and doing what I can do to improve not only my condition, but my life and the life of my family. My family helps me greatly. It is not easy. I also try to turn off the negative stuff... so basically cut out politics and I seldom go on facebook now because I found myself comparing myself to lives of others when all of us have different lives.

Having a positive outlook and attitude is very important for general health and well-being, and it can also help one better cope with COPD diagnosis.
What or who helps you stay positive? Does staying positive come naturally to you or do you have to work at it?
We would love to hear your thoughts on this topic and any tips you have?
Thank you!
