Been using a CPAP for diagnosed sleep apnea for almost 2 years now.  It has not helped me with getting any kind of quality sleep.  And often, I wake up only a few hours after finally being able to go to sleep, and can't get back to sleep.  Even though my primary care doctor said that getting on a CPAP machine would greatly improve my sleep & energy the next day, that is NOT what has happened.  I go to my sleep doctor every 3 months to make sure that the pressures with the machine are correct, so that is not an issue.  I am so frustrated and sick of always being sleepy & tired during the day.

@Saddogparent sorry you are facing that trouble... the CPAP machine has helped me because it allows me to sleep soundly and not lose my breath and then wake up. It also reduces my snoring.

Have you discussed with your doctor other options? I have heard there are oral things that can help... I think dentist do this, but you could ask your doctor. Also assess the positions you sleep in and which position makes your sleep apnea worse and which makes it better - may take some nights to assess this - but once you assess it, try and sleep in the best position.

I have had Sleep Apnea for about 20 years now, never could get accustomed to the C Pap machine.  Now my Dr. has put me on Oxygen during the night.  The oxygen has helped tremendously!  No more waking up because I am gasping for air and losing many hours of sleep.  It is  a great pain having to deal with Sleep Apnea but what else can you do?
