Hi friends from a country far away emoticon island I would like to ask people who suffer from bipolar disorder how they succeed in bearing loneliness, that, unfortunately, is a characteristic of our disease. Thank you

@Cici83 Thanks ... but I can be happy sad mad emotional all in 3 minutes and laugh it off to make it unknown ... because I'm so use to people using the information I give them against me to make fun of me ... Everything in life sort of triggers me because I tend to overthink alot ... I'm 15 by the way and one of my biggest problems is that I can't go to my mom about my biggest problems

Anaria - that overthinking is the worst, right?! I'm a mom and my daughter is 14. Sometimes I think she doesn't think she can talk to me either. A lot of teens feel they can't go to their mom. Why do you feel like you can't.? You might be surprised at how much she would understand or be able to empathize with you. how about an aunt/cousin/ grandma/ teacher/friend's mom?

@raj17201 I will let you know how it goes for me.  I've had 3 treatments thus far.  It's a weird feeling, the magnetic stimulation sounds and feels like a woodpecker tapping my head but it's rapid succession of tapping for a few seconds then I get a 10 second pause and this cycle continues for about a half hour,  I wear ear plugs to cut down on the noise and take ibuprofen before because I got a headache after first session.

@Cici83 Like today she got mad at me because I didn't go to her about an ankle bracelet I broke ... she makes everything about money ... She just yells you see why I didn't tell her because all she does is yell ... I don't have any friends because everyone goes out and the fact that I won't be able to go makes me seem uncool or something .. so I just have the friends that had since a baby ... but they don't understand neither ... I have a aunty that I can talk to but you know she just lost her dad so I don't wanna seem like a bother

Anaria, I’m sorry your mom yells and doesn’t understand. And when we’re feeling depressed or bipolar we tend to think no one can understand and it’s a lonely place to be. I’m betting your aunty would be there for you and welcome the distraction even.  Reach out here like you have and you’ll find others who are going thru the same. Does your mom not let you go out with friends?

@Cici83 No ma'am she doesn't my friend had a birthday party not to long ago, and she didn't want me to go when I asked her ... all because it was at her house ... I've known my friend since 2nd grade I find it very unfair.

@magicpamela I feel lonely even when I’m with the person I want to be with the most. I feel even lonelier when I feel that I can’t express to the person or anyone else how I feel because of negative responses. Sometimes I just need comfort.

@Queenb Maybe you could find a good novel or biography or autobiography of someone that interests you. History is always interesting. This always helps me.

I don't understand why some people avoid you when they find out you have bipolar.  Bipolar has a very bad stigma.   Yes, I have bad and good days.  I have highs but mostly lows.  I take my meds everyday as prescribed and I have a wonderful therapist.  I don't consider myself mentally or emotionally different.  I only wish to be treated like anyone else.  Loneliness is a huge factor in my life that I hate and I try my best to put myself out there.   Sometimes that's good and sometimes it's not.

I use Facebook, Twitter, and any other social site I can find online to combat my loneliness.  Reading also helps a lot, you will be able to put yourself in someone else's shoes for awhile and distract yourself from your troubles.  Practicing gratitude is a great way to feel better.  Every morning and throughout the day, think of things you are grateful for.  A warm place to sleep, plenty of food, simple things.  There are people all over the world who do not have the riches we have.  Also, try helping others.  Just a kind word goes a long way.
