I believe medical marijuana helps relieve symptoms there is no cure.

@Janieg yes! While you are in a manic state, Sativas are your worst enemy. I really don’t like Sativas even when I’m not experiencing a manic episode. Indicas are definitely the way to go!

Totally agree. It was a learning curve to get the exact strain to work. I also use medically for other health issues so I find an 80/20% combo a nice mix. 80% THC Indica/20% CBD Sativa. You need a little CBD for the medical to help. The THC is the part that helps to relax and mellow out. Sometimes I use more of a 100% THC product to go to sleep, but if it is over used or hit too hard it can mess with the thinking and sleeping will be more difficult. I think sometimes we feel like MORE IS BETTER, but in the case of cannabis and sleep, less can better!!😌

Work very well. I have seven pins in my leg and arthritis in my back. And with the bipolar and anxiety it certainly helps. I just got some AK 47 which is very very good and can become like a couch potato if you need to ha ha ha ha
I just finished; and gave him....a Collage letter to my husband he’s going to have 38 years sober on May 5 so I gave about eight pages of my inner soul through Scripps of paper and pictures........bipolarhope.com

I believe it does, you just have to find what strains work well with you. Usually my depression is what I'm combating, so generally I stick to sativa to bring me up a little more to a normal level. When I smoke indica I just get really anxious and nervous.

I have found it to be quite helpful. Takes the edge off. I prefer the hybrids of both Sativa and indica. I can’t say it makes me feel good, but it does help with more intense emotions whether depression, anxiety or mania.

Even among sativas or indicas there are lots of differences. I use the tinctures and only use a small amount if my anxiety is really high ( no pun intended). It does provide some calm but it also contributes to racing thoughts. It just doesn't bother me that much when I'm mellow. After it wears off I notice a bit of rebound and often feel depressed. Still hoping for that perfect elixir. Doctor advises avoiding cannabis since there are so many unknowns. It was all I had while trying to deal with my illneses on my own and then waiting for an appt. If things get really stressful, I'll take a small amount to take the edge off.

I have medical marijuana for back pain. I was curious how it would affect my bipolar. I have tried both strains and hybrids. It helps me sleep and Mellows me out a little bit but I would never give up my meds for it. My biggest problem with it is my memory. I can be in mid-sentence and forget what I'm saying.

I often use cannabis, and it generally helps me have a happy mood. I find it is useful if I am experiencing a mild depression or the start of a depressive "episode." It gives me a mellow, and often creative disposition. I have used it now for 43+ years, mostly for recreational purposes, but find when I do smoke pot it really takes the edge off a potentially "serious" mood-swing.
