How does MS affect your life?

is your vision difficulties related to optic neuritis? I had flare-ups that caused that, but then it settles down. I hope you are doing well... this disease is a rough one, but we have to keep pushing and  help each other.

Hi @siemprelucha‍  I’m not sure .. the doctors don’t know. My eyes are extremely dry and the irritation is daily with some days being worse than others. Driving has become extremely difficult as watching anything (even tv) for any length of time which means even an hour makes them burn. The burning can be mild like they’re just sore to extreme pain like someone is sticking pins in my eyeballs. 

Im sad and depressed today because I recently reunited with my sons father and it’s been 3 months and we just split up. I’m lonely as I live far away from anyone I knew but also being disabled cuts you off from society. Without work life gets tedious and lonely. 

I was at his house and he had clothes, pictures (some framed and candles that he put in a dresser drawer) toiletries that were clearly women’s items, and dog toys ( he doesn’t have a dog) hidden all over his house.  I snooped because he cheated during our marriage, and we had a huge blow out last night. He had no explanation whatsoever for the dog toys ... which really topped everything. He also was always out on Friday nights and most of the day Saturday so that was suspicious also.  Not many guys line up to date a disabled woman. Not that I should settle for someone treating me poorly ...  I don’t live close to any populated area so that makes things even harder and with my eyes I cannot drive far lately.  Anyway, I’m sure I will adjust but it just happened last night ...  I woke up feeling very sad though. 

I am so sorry @LynndMS‍ ... with everything that is going on with your health, I am so sorry to hear that happened with you and your son's father. I agree, you should not have to bear or settle for someone because of your diagnosis. I don't like using the word disabled because it makes me feel a weird way... you are worth much more than that and should be treated as such. 

Our diagnosis makes us stronger! I hope that you are doing OK. I wish I could help in some way. Can't imagine the feeling, and living in non-populated area, I am sure does not help.

Does your son live near by? Any other family?

Hmm... the doctors I saw told me it was due to optic neuritis, which they said was inflammation of the optic nerve... but it seldom comes now. I really did not take anything for it either besides my regular regime of anti-inflammatory supplements.

Is there a reason behind your move to a rural area? I can understand where that would complicate things, but does looking at the positive side of things help with it? Like for example, perhaps the scenery and nature is much more beautiful than where you previously resided?

I wish the doctors could give you something to aid with your vision, or at least reduce the dryness and pins feeling.

I moved here because I tried out a condo in the area that I fell in love with. I should have stayed there ... instead I bought a house in the village which is small and everyone is related to everyone else and I’m a stranger. The beauty was at the condo complex. The village is like any neighborhood and the yard is big and way too much for me to handle. I’m going to try and get closer to home. 

@siemprelucha‍ thankfully my sons dad and I talked things through and both apologized for our wrongs. There’s something to be said for aging when it comes to growing up and humbling and seeing the error of ones ways. 

We only lasted half a day apart .. I’m happy we made up. He has been so helpful and supportive and for that blessing I’m so very thankful. As another bonus our son is very happy (imagine that even at 32 he is happy Mom and Dad are back together) ..  thank you so much for your support. It means the world to me.

I am glad to hear that. It is true as we age and mature, we are able to look and analyze situations differently. I trully wish you both the best and hope that he does continue to treat you well.

They seem more stable lately (eyes) but I have not been reading or driving at all. That helps ... I’m afraid to but I’m going to try and read tonight.

I’ve been suffering a lot of pain lately. Do you have pain? How do you deal with it if you do?
