Hello everyone,

How are you today? emoticon cute

Though we can't hear it tick, our body has its own internal clock - the circadian rhythm. Our personal circadian rhythms, or "chronotypes" vary from person to person but may also run in families. The two main chronotypes are what we commonly refer to as "early birds", those who tend to go to bed and wake up early, and "night owls", those who tend stay up and wake up late.

If you'd like to learn more, don't hesitate to read our article: Can waking up early benefit our health?

What about you? Are you more of an early bird or a night owl? Has that changed as you've aged? Would like to be one more than the other? Have you ever tried to change your sleep cycle?

Courtney

I am a night owl. I always have been. Now that I am retired I stay up even later because I know I can sleep in.

Drink my coffee and wait a couple of hours to eat my lunch. I am in the severe stage of A.S. so don't get out much and even more so with Covid going around (again)

Hi.  I used to be a morning person, like up at 4 or 5.  Weirdly, now that I'm working, I've become a night owl.  I am a daytime individual, yet always fall asleep on couch.  Working only couple hours tomorrow.  Then, I have allergy shots, bit of grocery shopping, as w/o a car, is difficult at best w/ heavy items.  Thx.  Keep well.

I am an early bird person most of my life.  I used to get up at 5:00 am, go to bed at 9:00 pm.  Today I get up at 7:00 am and in bed by 9 or 10 pm depending if I am watching a movie.

For the last couple of years I have been going to bed around 8 to 9 pm.  I normally start waiting up around 4-5 am.  I normally remove my mask to rest for about 20 minutes.  Do the necessities and then put in my teeth.  Drink a high protein drink, and start working on my computer.  I am presently working through a Christian Self-Encounter class that I spend about 6 hours a week on. Group class on Tuesday morning.  Have to be sharp (wide await) for the class.

I have found that I sleep better when I go to bed early.  Sometimes due to outside activities I don't get to bed until around 10 or 10:30.  The next morning I know I didn't get enough sleep.  End up taking a nap in the afternoon.

I have always been an early bird.  I love to get up thinking I’m the only one in the world awake!   In college, I was up earlier than any of my fraternity brothers.  Today, I’m up at 4:30 am, do 10-15 minutes of meditation, do my home exercises, and get to the gym to walk the treadmill and ride the stationary bike.  Then I’m ready for my day.  (I am a retired professor!)

I was raised in a family of night owls, but I am usually in bed and reading about 9pm. I usually wake up around 6am and read for an hour before getting my day started. I don't go anywhere after dark, and I get ready for bed after supper.
