Hello everyone,

How are you today? emoticon cute

Though we can't hear it tick, our body has its own internal clock - the circadian rhythm. Our personal circadian rhythms, or "chronotypes" vary from person to person but may also run in families. The two main chronotypes are what we commonly refer to as "early birds", those who tend to go to bed and wake up early, and "night owls", those who tend stay up and wake up late.

If you'd like to learn more, don't hesitate to read our article: Can waking up early benefit our health?

What about you? Are you more of an early bird or a night owl? Has that changed as you've aged? Would like to be one more than the other? Have you ever tried to change your sleep cycle?

I am an early bird. Most of my life when I worked, I was always up at 5:00 am. Even though I no longer work due to disability, I am still a morning person. Now I get up around 7:00 or 8:00 am. I usually go to bed no later than 10:00 pm.

@chais18a I wake up at 5am and go to bed at 9pm every day. I'm on SSDI and no longer work. But I've always been an early to better early to riser. I sleep even better now that I have my CPAP machine I get a more restful feeling night sleep prior I was napping in the afternoon and now I have energy from the time I get up until I go to bed. I found out I needed a CPAP machine after taking a sleep study test through the University of Washington.

I'm a 66 yrs old and counting a night owl. I wake up between 10 am and 2 pm and if necessary I can keep going all night and sleep all day. Its just the way life dealt out the cards. mom and Dad were 24 hour people.they could work 24 hours straight and sleep 1/2 the next day. Father was a Merchant seaman and mom was a RN. At 16 I became the navigator or the driver and had to pick them up at any hour in any weather.

It's funny I used to go to bed at 11:30pm and get up at 11:00 am up to 1:00pm. I started to stay up until 2:00 to 3:00 and my husband got mad at me. Really mad. He now makes me wake up at 6:30 with him so I won't go to bed late. It sucks. So now I don't know what I am. lol

I want so bad to be a night owl. I love staying up late but my husband won't let me. He knows that's a sign of me going into one of my states. Mania/depression. So he make me go to bed at 11:00pm and he used to make me get up with him at 6:30-7:00am now I get up at 8:00am which is good for me. So now I guess I'm a early bird. I don't mind being an early bird I still get My Time before everyone gets up and my husband goes to work.

Oops I didn't realize I already posted.

Hello, how's everyone doing? 😊

I often find myself staying up way too late, especially when I suddenly feel energized and get most of my work done during the quiet hours of the night. At least now I can blame it on biology! 🙈

What about you? Do you tend to wake up early or stay up late? Have your sleeping habits changed over the years? Would you prefer to be an early riser or a night person? Have you ever attempted to shift your sleep schedule?

Feel free to share your experiences with us!

I've always considered myself a night owl, but lately, waking up late has been bothering me more than usual. It affects my daily routine and productivity in various ways.

I think one of the biggest challenges is feeling like I've wasted valuable time in the morning. For example, when I wake up late, I often rush through my morning tasks, which leaves me feeling stressed and frazzled for the rest of the day.

I also find that waking up late disrupts my schedule and makes it harder to sync up with others' timetables. For instance, I might miss important meetings or social events because I oversleep.

Overall, while being a night owl has its perks, I've realized that finding a balance between my natural chronotype and societal expectations is essential for my well-being.

I usually get up around 8 AM. I used to be a night owl but after living with diabetes and congestive heart Failure I can no longer stay up late.
