Patients Diabetes (Type 2)

My father has been recently diagnosed as pre-diabetes and the doctor told him he must change his diet immediately or his health will suffer and he will become diabetic.
My father tries to eat better, but his eating better is not really "better." Instead of eating 3 ice-cream cones, he will eat 1. I guess it is better, but I am looking for some help on what other patients and caregivers did to help prevent diabetes from a nutritional stand point.
Were there any books you guys used to figure out what you should eat or what resources did you use?
Thanks in advance.

Hello @jas__44 , welcome to Carenity! Great topic and I appreciate your question. I am sorry to hear that your father has been diagnosed as pre-diabetic. I am sure some members will post here in response with some useful information. I will try to chime in as well.
However, there are two highly rated books on Amazon that discuss preventing pre-diabetes/diabetes. Hopefully, these will be of some assistance.
The Prediabetes Diet Plan: How to Reverse Prediabetes and Prevent Diabetes through Healthy Eating and Exercise Paperback by Hillary Wright
Stop Prediabetes Now: The Ultimate Plan to Lose Weight and Prevent Diabetes by Jack Challem
