Hi @sunnysideup
How are you doing today?
Thank you for getting this discussion started, I think this is the first time I've seen this on the forum.
A long-acting injectable (LAI) for bipolar disorder is an intramuscular shot that provides a sustained release of medication over a period of time, typically weeks to months.
These injections, which help manage bipolar symptoms, may make it easier for you to stick to your treatment plan because you don’t have to take medication as often.
Only Abilify Maintena is currently FDA-approved.
Let me tag a few members to see if they have tried this medication.

Have you tried Abilify Maintena? What are your thoughts? Did you have side effects? Was it easier than taking a daily oral medication? How do you feel about getting an injection? If you haven't tried it, would you?
Take care,
Lizzi from the Carenity team

Hi, Good morning!
I've never heard of an injection for bipolar. How new is it?

Remembering to take pills every day can be a hassle. I actually switched to LAJ (long-acting injectables) a while back, and it's been great. Of course, everyone's experience is different, but it might be worth looking into. And hey, if you ever have questions or just need to talk, don't hesitate to reach out to a bipolar helpline. They can offer some great advice and support.
