Many types of therapies may be recommended for individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) beacause of the wide range of symptoms, skills, and levels of disability in functioning and social communications/interactions.
Because of the wide spectrum, such type of therapies may include: educational therapies in and out of school, behaviorial and/or developmental therapy, anger management therapy, family therapy, speech therapy, and occupational and/or physical therapy.
How about you?
Do you have any experience with therapy for your autism spectrum disorder? What types of therapies have you participated in? Did you find it beneficial?

Hi Lee. I have participated in developmental therapy, counseling, I also when I was younger participated in physical therapy and social therapy which was geared to helping my social skills.
I think all the therapies have helped me become more aware of my condition. I also feel that I have improved my social and behavior skills. The counseling continues to help me talk about feelings.

@Lee__R I've done mostly behavioral therapy and social skills therapy and it's been really helpful for me. My therapist and I have worked on my social skills like reading emotional cues and interpreting social situations and then she helps me talk through my thoughts and feelings. And she's helped me to come up with ways to cope when I'm overwhelmed or overstimulated. I'm so grateful to her. If anyone hasn't tried CBT, I definitely recommend it!
