Osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis is a very common type of arthritis. It usually affects people over the age of 50, but even though it is commonly thought of as « part of getting older », this is not the actual case. Osteoarthritis can also affect younger people, especially if they have had a stressful event to the body, such as an accident.

I have osteoarthritis

Living with osteoarthritis demands self-care, if you wish to manage your condition. Even though there is a great deal of pain connected to osteoarthritis, it can be managed. Controlling your diet, doing regular exercise, and potentially taking medication will be part of your self-care. There is plenty of help to get from professionals who can give you exercises to improve mobility and decrease pain. You may not be able to live life exactly like you used to, but with help from your entourage, and a focused effort you will be able to have a high quality of life.
