Does anyone else expierence times of overheating even without any heat exposure? I can't sleep lately because of it and I feel like I am on fire along with sweating when I shouldn't be since it's Winter..cold temps outside. I have been researching this and found some information but was not sure if anyone else goes through this? Thanks

@Emma2190‍ from my understanding from what the doctor told me it is because of the internal inflammation causing the internal fever. And a change in external temperature can magnify it.

Have you just recently started experiencing this? Do you know if your MS is Relapse/Remitting? For me, I have always been "hotter" since diagnosis and have somewhat grown accustomed to it, but it does not mean that I am in a relapse...

@msslady‍ I have been dealing with the internal temp increase and almost like hot flashes plus low grade fevers for a while now. I am not sure if I am still relapsing remitting as I am on a ms med called Rebif and my neuro claims their has been no progression though no MRI's since 2017, so who knows. As for the temp outside causing internal temp problems, I deal with that every hot summer so I know this well too sadly. I can barely sleep due to all these internal temperature problems most nights. Is there anything you do or find helpful for this? Thanks

@Emma2190‍ even if you are in remission, although the heightened inflammation has gone down after the flare, your body is still "inflammed" and the symptoms can continue. But if this all of a sudden appeared and has not been something you have been dealing with since diagnosis, then I think it would warrant going to speak with the doctor about or calling their office.

Are you only experiecing a rise in temperature or are you also experiencing other symptoms like muscle spasms? Because if so, these are commonly referred to as paroxysmal symptoms.

I try to stay indoors (or place a fan next to me); I have a portable fan that I can plug into an outlet at any location. Anytime my body feel hot, I also feel my symptoms in general worsen, so if I am able to (meaning access), I will take a cold shower/bath, place ice gel packs or cold towels around my body to lower my body temperature. I also drink more water (I always drink a lot of water though) because that also helps regulate your body temperature.

Have you tried any of these?

Also, as we are approaching the hotter part of the year in all areas, try to organize your activities that require you to leave your house and venture outside to be done in the early or late hours of the day because those are generally the times of day when the temperature is at its lowest.

@siemprelucha‍  I experience the rising internal temp a lot and spasticity plus muscle spasms that I was told is caused by my MS so I have spoken to my neurologist and normally for bad flares he puts me on a taper steriod called Predisone.

@msslady Yes I have tried ice and etc, especially being here in Florida right now on a vacation that ends tomorrow, even tried a cooling vest which only stays cool for 2 hours so was not helpful. In the warmer temps, I usually try to stay away from humidity or really hot temps outside, except for here but this was a fun trip for our kids and family planned ahead of time. Thank you for letting me know about the temperature being better in the morning and night, which will help me survive one more day here.  MS is definetly not a walk in the park so to speak, but it's not the end of the world either which is a plus.

Yes! My body feels warmer to me all the time and now that the warmer weather is approaching, I expect it to be worse. I have never found much I Can do other than try to make my surroundings more comfortable, which is not always possible - unfortunately. But thank you @msslady‍ for the tips... that helps with things I did not know.
