Hello Carenity members,

What were the symptoms that you originally experienced with lung cancer that made you seek medical advice? Please describe the symptoms and their duration before you sough medical advice/treatment.

My hopes is that this becomes a forum for users to reference in the future or for those that are possible concerned they may need to seek medical advice.

Thank you.

I get checked regularly for copy. Had a ct scan, they suggested I have broncotomy. I don’t think that’s the correct word. Scope my lung. Took biopsy and came back cancer. I’m in the process of what treatment is best for me.only symptoms I had, were breathing. Hard for me to lift anything above my waist. No serious pain.

I had pneumonia that would not resolve, and was offered further & additional meds, or s bronchidtomy. I chose it because i knew something was wrong and wanted to know if & what sooner as opposed to later. It came back positive for cancer.

I really had no symptons just had regularly scheduled yearly CT scan. Now that I look back on the last 6 months, I was coughing more than usual that I ignored.

They found a spot on my l lung when they were doing an MRI on my neck and that's how they found it. But never did find out what was wrong with my neck.

I went to Mount caramel East first and saw a pulmonary doctor and surgeon.  very little discussion or options were given to me they immediately wanted to take out one lobe .

I went for a second opinion at the James they explained everything to me told me various options they also told me that they didn't feel that my test was complete and wanted me to go through three more testing which made a lot of sense.

I see them again in four weeks and I get the results of the tests that they requested.  I feel more confident with the James .

I was getting so fatigued and short of breath. I hadnt really felt good for months but thought it would go away. I had a dry cough at times. I finally took off work and saw doctor. An xray showed i had a mass on my right lung. It was confirmed the following week it was stage IV NSCLC. Later i was also diagnosed with asthma.

My only  symptoms was a wheeze and I was tired all the time.  I didn’t think anything about being tired because I would go to sleep late and be up early, so I was tired.  My wheezing on the other hand was winter  allergies, so I thought.  I did have a cough but a coworker and I were both getting over a cold so I just thought it was from the cold.  My Dr. did a X-ray and thought it was  pneumonia until we had a cat scan and it showed a 10  centimeter mass in my upper right lobe. This all started February 23, 2018 and my last chemo was July 24, 2018.

I went in for constipation--that's all.  Then mentioned that I had lost about 20 pounds in about 5-6 weeks.  He immediately did a CT scan and found extensive stage small cell lung cancer, then did a PET scan and bronchoscopy.  Thinking back, I did get tired more easily for about six months but just thought I wasn't a young kid anymore.
