Hello Carenity Members,

I have seen in thedepression forums that there are many posts about people needing someone to talk to/listen to and feeling of overwhelemed with life or facing depression for various reason

I have created this discussion group and PINNED it so that it will remain at the top for people to do several things:

1) Those needing someone to talk to, can briefly state what they are struggling with - their situation - and that they would like to talk with someone.

2) Those who would like to listen/talk to someone else, can then private message that user directly and begin a conversation.

or

3) Those who have either overcome their depression to an extent or just really want to help and listen can also comment and say just that - basically offering themselves to be contacted.

I hope this helps open the communication and organize the forum as well. I think peer support is essential, especialy when in our own lives, perhaps we feel blocked out.

As always, there is the general forum for any and all other discussions.

If situation is very bad, please know your life is important and reach out to a medical professional or call Crisis Hotline at 1-800-273-8255

Thank you,

Lee__R

Hey there I’m new...

well I struggle everyday to do any kind of normal functions... I have been depressed for about 10 years now and I’m only 26... I feel like it will never get any better and i don’t know where to go from here... I feel like I’m just bringing my new husband down because he wants to move forward with our lives and I can barley get up each morning... I wish I had someone to talk to....

Hi I’m Gary. I’m suffering a deep, dark depression for the first time in my life. It’s scaring the hell out of me. I’m just feeling overwhelmed and alone. I enjoy chatting and sharing.

Thank you

@Clair95 I know the feeling. I too believe I'm going through a break up (a ghosted situation). It's been a difficult week for me. That is just one of many things that I'm dealing with at the moment, and it's bogging me down. How are you coping with all the feelings?

I don’t know what to do. I have no friends or family to talk to and I currently have no income. My mother who I live with causes constant emotional trauma on top of the physical pain I live with daily. I don’t want anyone’s money or anything like that. Just looking for someone that’s willing to talk to me for more than 30 seconds without giving up on me. I live in a third world country where there is no health care or mental health care at all. There’s much more to my situation and im hoping someone on earth is actually willing to hear about it. I don’t have addiction problems nor do I deal with physical abuse. I’m just alone and feeling scared.

Hello,

I was married to a gambling addict and he was very verbally abusive.  I am renting a new house now and I do have many friends.  I don't like to tell them my problems because they just don't understand and I don't like being a debbie downer so I am hoping to find friends on here that I can talk with. I am happy to listen also.  I am depressed and feel like I shouldn't be.  Since Covid I don't see my friends, just talk to them on the phone often.  I don't go any where but grocery pick up and have been for a year now.

I have many hobbys but don't feel interested in doing any of them. Like today  I didn't even get dressed.  My ex keeps asking to come back to me and that can never happen.  I was very relieved to get out of that situation and cannot ever go back.  Why do I feel so lonely and depressed.  I have many things to be thankful for.

I hope someone would like to talk to me and become friends on here.

Thank you,

Linda

@lindam0056 I'm going through a bad bought of depression too right now. I'm so embarrassed when it comes to my situation that I don't even know how to talk to my closest friends, and it's difficult to hide my depression around my teenage daughter. I'm usually an early riser out of the bed, and all week I haven't been able to get out before noon, I don't want to eat, or do any hobbies. I don't want to talk bad about my love (who just ghosted me a week ago); I'm hanging on to the sliver of hope that he will contact me and ether give me closure or explain his situation.

Please feel free to vent or talk freely, everyone is understanding here.

@ashjoleigh are you depressed from your love leaving or was this an episode that came on gradually? You're feeling rejected and you need not to feel embarrassed about being depressed about it.  I know what you mean about your daughter watching you go through this. I have four daughters (3 are on thier own) and they have definitely seen me go through my depression on and off. I've never kept my illness from my family. I couldn't even if I tried. Staying in bed. No desire to fix myself up. Not eating. I can be in a house full of family and go to a room and isolate myself. I guess you can say I feel embarrassed too. But we don't have to be. I hope that you can get your closure from your love.  Don't let it get you too down.

@ashjoleigh I'm so sorry you are going through this. Relationships really cause us unimaginable pain and depression, especially if we were already suffering from depression. Maybe it's because we open up and trust this person not to hurt us, but then they do anyways. My son is 15 and it's very difficult watching him watch me go through bad days. We can't hide our emotions even if we try. Family knows when we struggle. I hope you get the closure you need. Big hugs.
