Good morning, everyone,

Since Crohn's disease is a chronic inflammatory disease, special health measures apply to affected patients to protect them from possible complications following coronavirus infection.

Beyond general recommendations including containment and barrier gestures, more specific advice on treatments (immunosuppressants, biotherapies, anti-inflammatory drugs, corticosteroids...) and procedures in case of symptoms have been given.

Don't hesitate to read the Carenity article on Coronavirus and Chronic Illness, as well as to consult the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation website which gives you access to updated and specialized recommendations!

Please don't hesitate also to share your advice, experiences, or just how you're feeling down below! I think it is important that we support one another through this difficult time. Social distancing is an ordeal for everyone, but particularly for those who are alone or who are struggling with illness. But this is why our caring Carenity community is here - to listen and support its members!

Take care everyone,

Courtney

@Courtney_J‍ Hey, thank you for the information. I took a look at the article and the Crohn's foundation site and it cleared up some of my anxieties. Fortunately the company where I work put us all on teleworking pretty quickly, so I've been working from home and avoiding everyone. Thank god for delivery services, streaming services and Amazon!

Hey, how's everybody doing? 20 years with Crohn's and it's really the first time since the diagnosis you could say, that I have had so many doubts and fears... normally I look for information on the internet, I call my specialist... but in this case, I see that a lot of information on the internet is incorrect or is grossly exaggerated, the doctors don't answer the phone (which I understand, they're busy, especially right now) and the fears and questions accumulate... Has anyone been able to get through to their doctor?

I do as I read... I'm continuing to take my meds as normal and if I see any symptoms, then I'll stop taking them and call my doc... I'm lucky that I work from home so I've been "isolated" from it for the most part. But I sucks not being able to get out once and a while for groceries and stuff. I've been having everything delivered out of precaution because I live in an area with lots of cases. I'm caught up with all my shows, so that's a plus side to all of this I guess!

Hello to you all, my company has me working from home and I have to admit that before that going to work stressed me a lot, so I'd been having more symptoms and worries. I'm staying at home and I don't want this virus in my daily life. In terms of my treatment treatment, I'm on Stelara and I take vitamins C, D and B12 because I tend to have an iron deficiency. My gastroenterologist is really great and really takes the time to explain to me each of my new symptoms, which is lucky. Her office has set up video calls or phone calls which is how I've been able to keep in contact and ask questions. Maybe yours has too? I'd try to check and see if you can.

Hi everyone,

How are you today? emoticon cute

How are you managing your Crohn's now? Is it more complicated this time of year? Have you returned to a "normal life" after these few months of lockdown? Have you noticed any flares or changes in your symptoms post-lockdown?

Feel free to share! We are all here to help each other!

Take care,
Courtney

@Courtney_J I actually did ok in quarantine. I think the fact that I was staying home and working from home helped. Life kind of slowed down for me. Yeah what was going on outside was stressful and scary at some points, but it gave us all a moment to slow down and come together and appreciate what we have and our relationships with one another. I think the change in pace did me some good because I didn't have a flare once through it all.
