Atherosclerosis, a narrowing of the arteries due to plaque and deposit build up, can be accelerated with diabetes resulting from the inflammation and the slowing of blood flow triggered by diabetes. If plaque breaks off, this can cause a blood clot (thrombosis), leading to a restriction in blood flow. Both of these conditions can have dangerous consequences, such as a heart attack or stroke.
Have you ever experienced or been diagnosed with atherosclerosis or a thrombosis as a result of diabetes? What treatment did you undergo? How is the current health of your arteries/veins and blood flow?
