Hi everyone, how are you doing today? 😊

Crohn’s disease affects more than just the digestive system, it can also cause mouth ulcers and sores, which can be painful and difficult to manage. These ulcers are different from canker sores and cold sores, but they can be just as frustrating.

🔎 Why does Crohn’s disease cause mouth ulcers and sores?

  • Chronic inflammation can lead to swelling and sores in the mouth.
  • Nutritional deficiencies from a restricted diet can make you more susceptible.
  • Weakened immunity makes it harder for ulcers to heal.

🔎 How can you deal with mouth ulcers with Crohn’s disease?

🪥 Brush gently with a soft-bristled toothbrush.
🥗 Avoid spicy, salty, or acidic foods that may trigger irritation.
❌ Skip chewing gum, which can cause friction and discomfort.
🦷 Ask your doctor about antimicrobial mouth rinses or pain treatments.

Do you experience mouth ulcers with Crohn’s? What helps you manage them?
