Enbrel? Can't wake up. I can sleep through anything... anyone else?

I’m so sorry you are feeling like this.  I am having major problems staying awake myself.  I think my ra is progressing because I will fall asleep while driving sometimes.  I’m scared.  Some days I can push myself to stay awake other days I just sleep.  I sleep all night then get up drink coffee eat a little breakfast then fall asleep in my chair. I will awake only to go right back to sleep.  And I am so weak.  I took enbrel twice never had any problems with the meds causing me to sleep.  I hope you find out something.  I’m headed to my rheumy this afternoon.  Gonna address this with him.  I’ll let ya know.

@psbg123 How did it go with your doctor? I am sorry you are struggling with stay awake also.

I have a difficult time in waking up also... But I too am unsure if it is the drug or just my RA or just everything I am going through. I too can sleep all day and can sleep through anything.

I however, once I am up, as long as I stay moving, I am OK. I can keep doing stuff, but once I sit down... boom - I can pass out. I do not drink coffee because I coffee / caffeine can worse my inflammation. I too @psbg123‍ I can fall asleep as well well driving - or at least feeling like I am. I get really tired... it is so weird - as long as a I am actually moving my legs I can be awake, but the moment I sit down - it is lights out.

@psbg123 Thank you soooo much for responding. How did your appointment go?

Yes - I suffer the same thing. I can fall asleep anywhere once I stop moving. I too can try and force myself to stay up, but if I sit down - like driving also - my eyes become so heavy. I could be talking to someone, but if I sit down, no matter how interesting the topic, I can fall asleep.

It is good to know that maybe it is not the medication. I do not remember having this ability to sleep through anything a year ago before taking Enbrel, but maybe it is just a multitiude of things and Enbrel is just an additive.

What medication are you on if not Enbrel?

I have at the present time failed pretty much all the drugs so we are starting over.  I am on methotrexate injections weekly along with 10 mg prednisone that I have taken for years. And again trying plaquenil which last time I tried for years with no luck. My dr said that there is a promising new drug coming out mid summer and he will get me on it as soon as he gets his hands on it. I have an awesome RA doctor he works very hard to keep me going.  But I’ve been on all kinds of meds before.  Don’t get discouraged by me because he has very few patients like me   My husband was on enbrel for 14 years before it quit working on him

I’ve been on enbrel for 4 years. It has worked great for me. It is still helping with pain and swelling but about 4 months ago I broke out with a rash on my hands. It itches so bad. Keeps me up at night. Been to several doctors. I’ve been told it could be hives, eczema,,dermatitis, allergies. No one can help me  so frustrating  they all want to put me on steroids which makes me break out with horrible acne  anyone else have this?

@Ribbonssky I have never experienced that from RA or Enbrel. 

Steroids for the breakouts?
