I completely understand as I don’t have anyone to talk to also. I’m a widow & I live alone. My oldest son died in 2021 & my youngest son & his family live 3 hours. My father is dead & my mother has chronic back pain & is immobile. My younger sister lives with our mother & she is going through a divorce from her husband who abandoned her. My sister doesn’t visit me, help me, call me & rarely texts me. I have various cousins, a niece & nephew that are spread out in nearby states but are hours away from me. After I told my friends I had cancer, they quit contacting me. I have learned how to be my own care giver. It has been very difficult. I’ll admit I’ve been depressed, cried a lot, felt sorry for myself but I never gave up. I prayed & read my Bible everyday. Then I found cancer groups online like this one where I could share what I was going through & got empathetic responses. That really kept me going. I hope you find someone to talk to but I highly recommend the online cancer chat groups.

Hi everyone 💙
Hope everyone is doing good today.😊
Living with multiple myeloma can mean that treatment becomes part of everyday life for a very long time.
There may be medications to take, hospital visits, blood tests, scans, side effects and regular conversations about the next stage of treatment.
And even when treatment is working, it can sometimes feel as though life is organised around multiple myeloma.
Recent research looking at what people with multiple myeloma think about treatment-free intervals found something interesting: there isn't one answer that suits everybody.
For some people, regular treatment and check-ups can feel reassuring because they know their disease is being closely monitored.
For others, having more time between treatments can mean something equally important, more time with family, fewer hospital visits, less disruption and a chance to feel like themselves rather than constantly feeling like a patient.
Current multiple myeloma treatment is also increasingly personalised, with doctors considering treatment effectiveness alongside side effects, convenience, how treatment is given and individual patient preferences.
But those decisions aren't purely medical.
Imagine finally having a few weeks when there are no hospital appointments on the calendar.
Would that feel like freedom?
Or would part of you worry that the cancer wasn't being watched closely enough?

Multiple myeloma treatment is about controlling the disease, but living well alongside treatment matters too.
If you could change one thing about the way multiple myeloma treatment fits into your everyday life, what would it be?
With care,
