Hi everyone, how are you today?

These moments can feel overwhelming, and it’s not always easy to know what to say or do, especially when emotions are running high and nothing seems to help.

  • Have you found any strategies that help you stay calm and supportive during those moments?
  • Do you try to spot warning signs early on? Are there resources or tools that helped you feel more prepared?
  • And once the crisis has passed, how do you care for yourself?

Whether you’re a partner, a parent, a friend or a sibling, your experiences matter, and they could really help someone else who feels helpless or unsure right now.

Take care,

Somya from the Carenity team 🌼

I find the best support is to listen. Do not give advice, do not suggest resolution for problems. Sometimes you just need to be present and listen to what someone has to say!

Well, I'd say quite the question Somya. Depressive crisis, or crises, none are fun. As someone who suffers from seasonal depression, I maybe can answer. I haven't had what I call Significant crises, related to being depressed. When I feel extra low, & I know well how that feels, kinda out of control, & just Blah, in the past, I've had ECT, shock treatments. For me, the Best results!! I have a series of 10 - 12. And, it's Always during winter. I have had them in patient, yet is doable outpatient. Just stay w someone for few hours after, till you feel stable. I won't say I feel 100%, but my outlook on life becomes brighter, less Dark. If someone is in crisis, first, get them Safe. Perhaps, a civil servant, or, at least, away from anything dangerous, weapons, drink, someone else......... Then, best course of action is to get to health facility for them to be assessed. Given Healthcare these days, it won't be a quick process. But, as always, Safety First. Following assessment, a qualified provider will see them to determine how to move forward. Also a process. Hope that helps. Other opinions appreciated too.
