I am 71, and suddenly developed allergies at age 69.  I am allergic to everything! Trees, grass, weeds, dust, mold, cats & dogs. This diagnosis came after 2 sinus infections, back to back. These infections were also the beginning of my asthma, which has progressively gotten worse over the year.I am on Breo, Spireva, and Nasocort every morning, and Allegra and Singular at night. I continued getting lung infections, nearly every month, for which I have taken antibiotics and Prednisone.  They work well, but have concerns about being on them frequently. Today I received my first Nacala injection, and am hopeful that it will improve my symptoms. I am so tired of coughing!! But I am learning to be thankful for a cough that doesn’t bring up mucous.

So I am interested in learning about others who have suddenly become asthmatic later in life. It is a difficult adjustment,  and hard to accept.

@Purplehatartist‍ sorry to hear about your diagnosis later in life. I can understand how that must be frustrating and concerning.Does the doctors say why you are so prone all of the sudden do infections?

Have infections increased since starting prednisone?

It seems my bronchial tubes are constricted and germs like to hide out in little pockets . So I am susceptible to pneumonia. That’s certainly not a medical view, but how I understand it.

Hard to say if prednisone has had a negative impact, but it does give me lots of energy (and increases my appetite!). The combo of prednisone and antibiotics has helped, but not a solution.
