Hello everyone,

How are you today? emoticon cute

For many of us, the lockdown has led us to pick up a few bad habits: snacking, binging a bit too much TV, and less exercise.

Now that the good spring weather is on its way, let's motivate one another to get back into shape!

How have you experienced the lockdown in terms of diet and activity? Are you ready to take part in our challenge?

What are you doing to get back into sport or exercise? What kind of sport do you do? How often do you do it?

Feel free to share any workouts, light recipes or ideas to get back into shape here!

Take care,

Courtney

@Courtney_J

Hello

My husband was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer. We hsve been trying to get some VA benefits but with the lockdown we can not even get to his treatments!

You all are very impressive, with your getting into walking or exercise! For me, I've continued working thru all this, thank goodness. I am sitting more at work, due to clinic being TeleHealth, and I havent been doing my weekly Friday night dancing. They finally reopened, so went for dancing last Friday! I'm a weirdo that loves to country line dance. I also love to garden, but have not been able to motivate myself to get out and start again. My excuses for that, are either no time, no energy, or its raining, which is often here in FL now. I've got a kayak, but am having trouble getting my boyfriend to go on his days off. He would rather watch movies, which I think is my downfall. Hard to motivate myself, while he's just sitting around. If there was a gym closer to me, I think I would join, but everything around me is a half hour away. As for walking, my neighborhood is not the best, no sidewalks, and people let their dogs roam(rural area). Someone was just recently attacked by dogs near me. Yep, pretty much have all the excuses not to exercise, lol. I too, have always been thin, my whole life, could eat anything and never gain, no matter how hard I tried to. Then my divorce, I lost 30 lbs I didn't need to loose. Then menopause began, and I gained that all back, plus around 70 lbs. Thank goodness Im tall. I'm not used to being fluffy, but I can't seem to make myself change my portion sizes, which are likely my biggest problem.

I do lots of walking, trying to increase my walking before going back to work next week. I work at a daycare running with kids & chasing after them all day!!! As you can tell I love my job with the kids.... :)    I do love smoothies & I eat lots of salads & watching my bread intake. Looking forward to getting back to the gym.

                                                                              Take Care all of you!!!

@PeerJanice I struggle with portion size too! It's so hard! I was always on the slimmer side growing up so my mom always let me go back for more portions of starches and sides and things like that. But since I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, I've just ballooned with the medications. I'm not used to being "fluffy" either!

Maybe I should get a job with kids like @Lovey5457 !

Anyway, I'm trying to work on eating better and relearning from bad habits. And walking around my neighborhood when I can.

Stay safe everyone!

I've gained during this pandemic too. Plenty of weight to make my clothes tight, and almost unwearable. So now,  the plan is to figure out how to lose it.  I have walking issues with the MS but I like to walk anyway.  However, it's been unusually hot and humid - 3 heat waves in a row.  My MS won't let me deal with heat or humidity.   I really need a dose of motivation though. I'm 70 and all I want to do is nap.    Not good for weight loss!    :-)

My best to babydoll75 and her last chemo in September.  What a wonderful thing to look forward to!  You got through it and this will be your last dose, I pray.

I am 100 lbs overweight, really out of shape and also get bored easily. I used to walk only if I had a partner, which I scheduled for three times a week.  My daughter and walk while talking to each other on the phone and I have a friend here in the apartment complex to walk with as well.  Walking, even with a partner, used to be torture and if my partner couldn't go, I didn't go either. My daughter finally got me to use MyFitnessPal to count calories and you get extra calories for exercise! Huge motivation for me. I have been walking every day so I can have more snacks in the evening.  It's gotten easier. Walking around the neighborhood I have mapped out a few routes that are just one mile and if I am by myself I take pictures of stuff with my phone and text them to my daughter or a friend to keep it interesting. If it is yucky outside or too dark, I will either walk on the treadmill or there is a Walk Away the Pounds video that I will do a bit of. I mute the sound on the video and turn on my own music and just walk to the beat of that. Also keeps me from getting bored with it. When I walk on the treadmill, I take my tablet and watch something on NetFlix or Hulu to help the time pass. If you need to, you can tether to your phone and access the internet that way.  Hope someone found this helpful!

In March of 2020 I weighed 165. Started a job at an Assisted Living Facility. I was walking about 6 miles each night, up and down the halls. By September I weighed 127. But now I have loose, baggy, gross  skin. Ugh. I almost wish I was fluffy again. Almost!
