I have suffered with depression for 20 yrs but have had it under control with paxil. I have had the loss of my mom, dad and brother within 8 years. I am a pretty functional active person but a new symptom I am experiencing is gloom and doom. No joy in all I love to do. I also cried tonight after holding it in all day. I feel very scared of this. Will this pass. I want to want to be alive and healthy.

I know I need professional counseling but I don’t trust anyone even myself. How do I find the right therapist for me. Someone who won’t judge me or make me feel inferior. I’m a black 64 year old woman. Should I choose a black older woman? Should I choose a woman? Should I choose a black person? Would a male be better? I’m afraid of choosing the wrong therapist. How do pick the right therapist out of a million for me? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have had the best luck with women. I had to let go of a few therapists due to changes in my insurance. I hope the best for you!
