Hello everyone,

How are you feeling today?

Living with depression can sometimes make it hard to recognize when you need support. For many of us, the decision to seek help comes after a long period of struggling alone. Whether it was feelings of hopelessness, physical manifestations, or simply reaching a breaking point, there is a moment when we realize it's time to ask for help.

When did you first realize you needed help for your depression? What were the signs or feelings that made you reach out to a professional or loved one?

Sharing your experience could really help others who may be struggling with similar feelings but are unsure if they should seek help.

Looking forward to hearing your stories,

Somya from the Carenity team 🌼

I realized that I needed help when I woke up in the morning in a psych ward. There was no possible answers but one: I needed professional help. It was a stark reality that I could no longer deny. There were plenty of professional help at the hospital but I felt overwhelmed by being there.

I was a teenager. I used to go to sleep and hope I didn't wake up. Of course I didn't know it was depression. My parents became concerned when I started drinking. I went to therapy because my parents made me. I didn't get diagnosed until I was 18

I realized I needed help with depression when it started affecting my daily life in ways I couldn’t ignore. Simple tasks like getting out of bed, going to work, or even talking to friends felt overwhelming. I noticed I was withdrawing from people, losing interest in things I used to enjoy, and feeling exhausted all the time, even after a full night’s sleep. It wasn’t just occasional sadness anymore—it was this constant, heavy feeling that made it hard to function. When it began interfering with my ability to live normally, I knew I couldn’t handle it on my own anymore and needed to seek help. My PCP helped me to sort out the issues and suggested a behavioral therapist for me.
