No I’m the first, 22 years of welding, last 5 hit me very hard Isocyanate in Carl paint on military trailers, occupational asthma, doctors have me on a constant roller coaster trying to say I have COPD, no, I don’t, I am tired of dealing with the medical profession!!!! My pulmonologist who diagnosed me was killed in a plane crash tow years ago, these other quacks just don’t get it, they want to re-write the book after it was already published, I have been on disability now for 4 years in part, for my condition, I’m managing it now but it’s a constant battle trying to get these doctors to understand, I guess no one reads medical records anymore

Hello everyone,
How are you today? Have you seen this older discussion?
While the direct causes behind asthma are not fully understood, researchers have found that asthma can be caused by both hereditary and environmental factors.
What about you? Does asthma run in your family? Or were you the first to be diagnosed with it? Do you know what causes are behind your asthma?

@Courtney_J It runs in my family in my case. My mom and uncles on her side were all asthmatics. I'm not sure if it's been proven, but I think I remember reading somewhere once that asthma runs through the maternal side. Has anyone else noticed it running through their mom's side if it runs in your family?

It definitely runs in my family, my sister's and their children all suffer from asthma. My nieces and nephews were asthmatic as children. I am not sure how they are coping as adults but I hope they are well.

Hi everyone.
I was the first person in my immediate family to have asthma. Is anyone else the first in their family?
I think the good thing - but not really good - about having someone in your family that has had asthma, is that they can kind of give you pointers and tips to help you. For us who are the first in the family - all the learning is on us.
