i developed severe sacroilliac and left sciatic nerve pain with severe weakness and shortness of breath. After being told to start walking I told my doctor I had a nephew who had had AS, He actually committed suicide at age 30. I was tested for the gene and had an MRI that showed that my bones had already changed.

I experienced severe back pain in my mid-20's. Worked thru that with Tylenol. In my low 30's I had sciatic pain to the point I was bed-ridden for days at a time. After seeing several orthopedic doctors I finally went to a Osteopath who did some investigating and determined I has AS. Been seeing a Rheumatologist for many years and have been on Enbrel for almost 20 years
