I was on Darzalex FasPro with Dexamethasone, but the Dex was causing heart problems. I’ve been on only the Darzalex for several years and my lab numbers have stayed steady. No, I have not achieved MRD negative, but my quality of life is good. I stay active and attend strength training twice a week. I have more muscle definition than I’ve ever had in my life, and I’m 73. I have lost 65 pounds and feel good. I have neuropathy from taking Velcade in the past, but the Darzalex has not contributed to that. I won’t change treatment medication unless my labs show a drastic change.

i know there are days when people tell you to get active, and it just seems impossible. I understand because I was there too. I started by walking as much as I could. There were days I could barely get out of the recliner. And that’s okay. If all you can do is walk to the mailbox, do it. The next day you might be able to walk a few more feet. Just keep adding steps when you can. Once you are feeling better, find a gentle exercise class like chair yoga or tai chi. These types of exercise will help build stamina. There are lots of classes available on the internet and TV if you’re not up to going to a group activity. I really didn’t want to hear about exercising when I felt so tired, so overwhelmed, and just generally icky. But one day I decided to just prove to everyone I could not do it. And then I did it. And I felt a tiny bit better. So I kept it up. And I added things when I could. Now I’m so convinced exercise helped me get out of a deep dark hole of fatigue, pain, and despair that I rarely ever miss a workout. I have to be pretty sick to skip it.
