Kay, You  are good.  6.9 is great.  Your Doctor hollers because he doesn't want you to slide.

I am diabetic and have been for 20+ years.  In the beginning i took my eating seriously and my a1c stayed around 6.3.  As time went on my numbers started going higher.  It was easier to control my eating and numbers when i was younger.  At the age of 78 my figures are 167 or higher.  My A1C was 7.6 but is starting to come down.  Last reading was 7.4.  So you see Kay you are fine.  Just don't let it get away from you like mine did.

I will say when i was diagnosed with diabetes back in my 50's i was a lot thinner. I think weight has a lot to do with keeping your A1C down.

Good luck..  Nancy

It comes down to diet and control.  I drink a lot of water and when I food shop, I look at the sugar content.  If it is too high, I do not buy it.  Walking also helps.

I was 39 when I was told I was diabetic and I’m 64 now. My blood sugar are from 40 to 400. I’ve lost some appetite lately and that messed me up with hypoglycemia and that changed my insulin shot to be when I eat only. Taking a long acting U 500 insulin so I have to be careful. But the good news is I’ve lost 27 lbs.

@Jazz93   please tell me what you eat or do to bring your A1C down so low and by losing so much weight.

I have been struggling for years with diabetes and have seen therapists, counselors, meal planning associates but still have the problem.

I will probably never get the hang of living with this disease.  I AM THE ONLY ONE IN MY FAMILY THAT HAS THIS.

I have lived under much stress my whole life.  I wish i could say its changed, but it hasn't.  I NEED HELP!!!!

Please tell me what i need to do to get with the program.  Thank you so much.

well I eat dill/sour pickles for the vinegar. I have lost some appetite so I eating once or twice a day so my carb intake is down with that my insulin intake and eventually the weight comes off.  Its not the greatest thing to do but  I got 150+ lbs. to lose and with my arthritis exercise is not that good an option.
