Hi guys,

I am Type - 2 Diabetes. Been diagnosed for about 3 years now. My most difficult issue is losing weight. I do exercise 3 - 4 days a week and try to eat healthy, but I just cant seem to keep the weight off.

Any suggestions?

I work in the health field. Everything has carbs but you have to cut the ones that are not healthy. Bread, potatoes, rice, pasta, etc. If you have to... concentrate on complex carbs (foods that are not white). Try eating more lettuces : kale, red kale, spinach, etc. Its not a diet, just change the way you eat. Remember: if it dont work, then change it. If you dont change nothing, nothing will change.  Ive lost 190 lbs. God Bless.

My husbands wound care nurse told him to eat "God Made" carbs. I've heard too that we didn't gain this weight eating veggies and fruit.

Hi, i am a type II diabetic for about 19 years.  I do not have any secondary effects of diabetes yet and I consider myself lucky.  I had bariatric surgery abour 9 years ago and initially lost my goal of 100 pounds but over the last few years have gained anout 40 pounds back and my sugars are out of control my A1C's are running around 8.5.  I just find  the diabetic diet so hard to follow.  I love my bread and sweets.  I am looking for someone to encourage me to stick to the diet and to have some accountability as I live alone.

I started a long mesage to you, but lost it.  Rats.

Totally agree about difficulty of sticking to the dang diet.  My doctors have told me I can have a sweetie every now and then. One said once a month and my current internist says pick two days a week and have a serving of pie, cake, ice cream, etc. Otherwise no carbs meaning as low as possible and we must be very strict with this. Only carbs from veggies.  You already know NO flour, sugar, potatoes, rice, blah, blah, blah.  Some people who read this will probably disagree and disapprove of what my doctors have said about allowing sweets.  My recent endocrinologist would never agree to having treats, but I figure that she suspects patients cheat anyway, so why overtly condonen it.  Ha. Just a thought.

I just had a doctor's appointment on Friday and haven't QUITE started on the strict diet! My doctor wants my A1c in the low 6.0s.  Want to try it?

Hi,

I currently take Victoza, Novalog and Tresiba.  Called the endo and asked that she change Novalog and Treshiba.  She informed that all insulins add to weight gain and not one of them cause loss.

I am on a diet (one of many) and have lost 9 lbs in one month.  I know that as my weight goes down I will decrease my insulin.

My question I have 50 lbs to use (following Weight Watchers).  Any idea how long that will take.

Thank you all for your support.  Bonnie

@bonnie_calgaro‍

3000 calories is a pound. You can lose, healthy, like a pound a week just by dieting and eating a caloric deficit diet of 3000 calories. Then add in some exercise and aim for 2 lbs a week.

So 25 weeks. You can do it!

Hi y'all, I hope it's ok that I'm posting on this now... I've really be struggling with my weight and my doctor has been pushing me to lose some to help my diabetes. I just really don't know where to start. Has anyone else struggled with this? I know exercising would help but the idea of going to a gym is scary!
