Hey all,

What BG Monitor/Meter do you use and what are your opinions of it compared to others you have tried?

Also what is your experience with insurance coverage for the meters and strips? any beneficial information?

HI im New here.. Names Nikki. I was diagnosed in Oct and had no money to buy a meter, so I got online and found a free one. I was prepared when I got to Walmart to buy one and my United Healthcare wouldn't purchase one.  So i used the free voucher for a one touch verio. i love it,  i can buy my strips and lances myself if i have to but usually my ins covers them. ALl you do is go on the website, get the dr to write a script for one and take it to your pharmacy.

I’m type 2 and have used several different types of meters (FreeStyle, Bayer Contour Next, Accu-Chek Avila Plus, and iHealth) in the past and they all worked well. I am currently using the Accu-Check Guide Me which automatically sends my data to an online app on my phone. I’ve been using it for a few weeks now and really like it.  My supplies are covered by the VA and insurance company.

I have been using the Dexcom G7 for a couple of months and have had some good and some bad experiences, I think it is great when it works. The bad part is it is hard to syn with bluetooth when it is far away from phone and it has to go through a cycle before it works again.
