Hi everyone,

I know each person's experience with lupus is different, but as one with lupus who still works - I am lucky to work from home - Working from home, I still have to take breaks often, but I am worried that I may not have this job for much longer, so I am curious to learn about others.

How many of you here work and what type of work do you do?

How does it affect your work?

Or how long were you working before you decided you could no longer, and what was the last straw?

Thank you all.

Does anyone else have experience or story to share about working with lupus?

Do you work? What type of work do you do? How has / does lupus impact your work?

If you are no longer working, how long were you working before and what was the ultimate factor causing the stoppage of work?

Thinking of starting a Facebook group on this subject. Would anyone else be interested in joining?

I had to leave my job in education that I loved... I always fought through the pain and just kept going and then I had a brain aneurysm at work. After being one of the few to survive and a couple of months in ICU I slowly recovered. Luckily I had taken out long term disability insurance but still wanted to try to go back to work.

I went back but after 6 months it was just to much. I was doing 8 hour infusion treatments and realized that I could keep up this pace and die young or retire early and spend time with my grandkids. I made the right choice...

Money is always tight and I wish I could find a part time job I could do from home.

How has lupus impacted your working life? Have you had to adapt the way you work around it? Are your employers and coworkers understanding? Or have you had to stop working because of it?

Hello, lupus really has not change my life that much. I have a very mild case of it. I take my medication on a regular basis and it is helping me. I have not have any bad flare ups.  I have pain in the morning when I get up, however after I moved around a little bit the pain eases up.
