Hello Carenity Members,

I have seen in thedepression forums that there are many posts about people needing someone to talk to/listen to and feeling of overwhelemed with life or facing depression for various reason

I have created this discussion group and PINNED it so that it will remain at the top for people to do several things:

1) Those needing someone to talk to, can briefly state what they are struggling with - their situation - and that they would like to talk with someone.

2) Those who would like to listen/talk to someone else, can then private message that user directly and begin a conversation.

or

3) Those who have either overcome their depression to an extent or just really want to help and listen can also comment and say just that - basically offering themselves to be contacted.

I hope this helps open the communication and organize the forum as well. I think peer support is essential, especialy when in our own lives, perhaps we feel blocked out.

As always, there is the general forum for any and all other discussions.

If situation is very bad, please know your life is important and reach out to a medical professional or call Crisis Hotline at 1-800-273-8255

Thank you,

Lee__R

@pete87 Hello! We have a very similar situation! Last year when I started working from home- I became a little depressed over the isolation- nothing major. My fiance started talking to a woman from work during that time just to avoid me. We were together 10 years. I went through a very very dark period. I'm still going through it- it's difficult. I'm sure every feeling you are having- I have either had or am having. It's very hard to understand why someone that loves you puts you through that kind of pain. I hope to hear from you soon. I hope you are doing well today! Big hugs!

@Paytonjessharper I'm sorry that you are going through that. I don't know that there is an exact answer for when a person knows they need help- other than when they admit there's a problem. Even if you forced him to go, if you were able, if he doesn't believe he has a problem it may not be helpful. It also could be that he doesn't believe it will help. If there is any possible way of convincing him to try- he may find answers. He still needs to be open to the fact that this relationship is not normal and he is hurting you. My mother passed away when I was 6. For me, growing up without left this constant fear of abandonment and death. I didn't exactly know that was my problem though. I knew that the minute I started to have feelings for someone, I would push them away. I have even pushed family members away because I feel that losing someone so close that I love is a pain I don't want to feel again. Therapy helped me to fully understand my thoughts and feelings. It helped me to understand why I'm me. Maybe therapy would help him understand better. Sometimes it's hard to know why we feel the way we do. I will say I think you are amazing for sticking by him. I will also say that everybody can only handle so much. I hope he gets the help he needs for the both of you. Please reach out if you need to talk more! I hope you both are doing well! Big hugs to you both!!

@Paytonjessharper hopefully he will agree to therapy before the relationship is ruined. It's completely understandable for you to feel depressed going through all of this. It may even benefit you to speak to someone. You should both seek help separately to start- as you are feeling different things- if you feel you need it. Later down the road- couples counseling may help you strengthen your relationship after everything you have gone through. I hope it gets better for you both!!

@iovvolf33 Hi    I am Swede  - delighted that you joined with us winners.   And we are winners just by joining.  I have been dealing with depression and COPD a long time going thru many many dark nights of the soul.  Thankfully never wanted to kill myself or hurt anyone but there were lots of time that I just wanted to be out of that dark yucky feeling.    Now - it is my attitude to invite the depression or fear to sit and have a cup of tea ,- the dark space do not plan to say too long . I learned years and years ago that if I was depressed 24 hours a day and then through procedures and lessons that I was depressed only 12 hours -   that was awareness that having patience was paying off.     Aware of it or not - we are never alone - never.    All my problems are within and all the solutions are also within.  It is a question of always searching internally.  No one is better than me nor am I better than someone else -  just another duck swimming in the pond ---so quack quack, enjoy the swim.

@pete87 just seperated from my husband of 15yrs 9 most ago. All I can say is that it gets better with time. I keep reminding myself why I left in the first place. I would rather be on this road of depression without him than being still in the relationship unhappy and mentally unstable. I pray you will find peace in your heart and mind. GOD Bless♥️
