Hey guys,

For years I have been doing multiple daily injections for insulin, which is time consuming and a headache.

I have often heard about the possibility about the pump and will need to discuss this with my doctor, but does anyone have or have used the pump in the past and can explain the pros and cons vs the injections?

Thank you in advance

Hi @clarence1954‍ I have experienced both. Me personally I love the pump! I will explain why and feel free to ask my any questions.

The pump allows me more freedom and it allows the insulin to sustain itself longer in my system, thus allowing me to more freely participate in activities without the worry that I will need to take a break because my blood glucose level is no longer in the ideal range. Additionally, I am not having to constantly make sure I carry the injections with me; instead, all I have to do is make sure i have the pump supply with me.

Additionally, I feel the pump is more precise with the amount of insulin; I can better control it.

However, the con, and it is a big con, is that it is a mechanical device and it can fail and if it fails you are in a big issue if your blood sugar level drops. Therefore, this is always a concern of mine. I have never ran into the issue, but the worry is there.

Hope this helps.

I second @clarence1954‍. I love my pump. It just gives me more freedom and I did not like having to find a new place on my body to inject. I also second the worry about the mechanical device failing; however, I luckily always have insulin injections close by in case.

Does anyone else have this same worry?

since AugustI have a used the insulin pump and I am very satisfied! it has worked perfectly for me, even if it is somewhat inconvenient in the way that it must be wore 24 hours a day basically.

Hello members,

Do any of you have an opinion? What are the pros and cons of the pump vs injections?

I currently do injections (~ 2 -3 a day). However, I am also interested in the pump, but I am scared / nervous about the tubing that needs to be placed into my abdomen... this is correct right? Does anyone know if there is a pump that does not require that?

Hi members, I am restarting this discussion.

Do you use an insulin pump or have you transitioned to an insulin pump? What has been your experience? Pros vs cons....

Looking forward to your comments.
