Hello everyone,

Unfortunately, diabetes can cause different complications to occur. This can manifest in different ways such as eye damage, kidney damage, pregnancy complications... Have you experienced any complications from diabetes?

I have been diabetic for 3 years now and had a really good handle on it until the stress of Covid and my father dying. Since then my numbers haven’t been as good as I would like them to be and I can’t seem to get my diet under control either.  My neuropathy is getting worse but I also have fibromyalgia and since October have been in extreme pain and am being tested for other things. Well, that’s my story for now.

My doctor recently has taken me off the morning and night time insulin and doubled my metformin. I am currently taking 1000mg twice per day. Has anyone had trouble with the metformin? Since I've started taking more of it I have been so sick and having stomach issues. Has anyone had this issue or is it just me?

Please listen if you are type 2.  Eat a LOW carb diet, 50 to 100 grams a day of carbs. HIGH healthy fat, like olive oil and avocado, fats from grass fed healthy eggs, meats and seafood.  non starchy vegetables, whole dairy   , LOW protein diet, and you will slowly reverse your INSULIN RESISTANCE.   Do NO  shoot insulin, you already have too much now.  Type 2 diabetes is a disease of too much insulin because you're insulin resistant. You body's cells are packed to the maximum with sugar now.  Take  1000 milligrams of Metformin twice a day.  High blood sugar is a symptom, the disease is INSULIN RESISTANCE!   Once you reverse it you can add more carbos, but never 3 times a day plus snacks, that is how you got here.  This works for 99% of type 2s.

If your sugar is really high when you start take two or three days with no carbs, but no more.

This will stabilize your blood sugar and the high fat diet will keep you full and you will not be hungry much

This is easy compared to the suffering you are going thru now.  You can take control and end it forever.

Ask your doctor he or she will not disagree with ANYTHING above.  Please take care of yourself, life is short enough,

By the way within 3 or 4 months your cells will become eager for sugar and you can eat quite a bit of carbos. enjoy.

Do this for a year or so and get off the metformin, although it is a great medication so I digress.

Dear redbone5335....I am a man of big appetites, so  I was told by two Diabetes Educators, Licensed Practitioners, that I  was doing fine on my diet and exercise regimen so far,  Unless told otherwise I will always follow their direction and advice....I listen to my Doctors and Providers religiously, if not aggressively,  one time I failed at that so good odds....I am malicious in my HealthCare of late, I take it very seriously after my Dad died four years ago....He suffered terribly, I saw it!!!   I don't like making mistakes....so I am more cautious then ever around such a topic as this....I care about myself to much to risk it!!!   I am not lenient about this issue!!!

Thanks to type 2 diabetes, I have CHF, kidney injury and chronic lung failure with hypercapnia as well as cirrhosis of the liver. Diabetes can hurt most of the organs
