Hello, my name is April, and I’m so happy to be here - literally. Last August, I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. The news floored me. But I’m a fighter, so I told my oncologist that I was willing to do anything necessary to battle  this disease. So, after surgery and six rounds of chemo, I’m so happy to announce that I was deemed cancer-free in February of last       year. I celebrated by going  on a cruise - just in time, before Corona became rampant. The ship was named Victory, and this was definitely mine.

Long story short, the steroids in my chemo premeds caused my glucose to skyrocket into the 600’s. Not only that, but they made me ravenous, and I was constantly eating. I told my doctor that I had cancer to deal with right now - I’ll deal with the diabetes when I’m better. What I didn’t know is that the chemo had caused nerve damage in my feet, causing me not to be able to go back to my  job. I’m currently on Disability.  And along comes Covid. Now I’m eating the worst foods out of sheer boredom. But last night I had an epiphany - I fought for my life with the cancer...how is the diabetes any different. So, I’m ready to fight once again. I have a ten year old granddaughter and I wanna be around for a long time, ya know? So, anyway, that’s my story. Thanks for accepting me. - OCwarrior (Ovarian Cancer Warrior)

Living with Type 2 Diabetes felt like an uphill battle at first. Managing blood sugar, changing habits, and staying on track wasn’t easy, but I refused to give up. A major turning point for me was discovering semaglutide. It’s been a reliable tool in keeping my levels stable and helping me feel more like myself again. If you’re navigating this journey, remember you’re not alone. There are effective options out there—buy semagludite if it’s a fit for your needs. It’s worth exploring for better control and peace of mind!

I have been living with type 2 diabetes for 15 years now. At the same time as my diagnosis for diabetes, I was also diagnosed with congestive heart failure. I have worked very hard to gain good control of my diabetes. I worked hard to lose weight. I have been successful. I now weigh what I weighed in college. My doctor's weaned me off insulin. I now take 2 mg of Ozempic once a week. I also am on 10 mg of Farxiga. For my heart failure I have an internal defibulator. I also take heart medication. The 16 months have been tough. I suffered my fourth seizure. I also went through a bout with Covid. I am also taking care of my mom who is 90 years old and sufferers from dementia..

I was diagnosed in October 2009 w/T2, along with high cholesterol, HBP. Already had seasonal allergies. Was put on various meds for HBP and cholesterol along with Lantus, Humalog, and Janumet 50/1000 for T2. Developed GERD in 2014, and was diagnosed 3 days ago with CKD - Stage 3A.

This is such an important discussion. Living with Type 2 diabetes already comes with challenges, and when the risk of cancer is added, it can feel overwhelming. From what I’ve read and also heard from doctors, regular screenings and maintaining a healthy lifestyle (diet, exercise, and blood sugar control) play a big role in lowering risks. Stress management is equally important because it impacts both diabetes and overall health. [This content has been moderated by an administrator]
