Has anyone tried acupuncture and did it help the pain ? My therapist said it is a great thing it just takes a while for the effects to kick in .  Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.   Have a great day everyone and just remember NEVER GIVE UP....!!!!!! 🤗😁🙏😍

Hi @LisaSpillman‍ I am sorry your are hitting depression. I think it is easier for us with chronic conditions to fall into depression because we are already weak/ill which makes doing day to day life more challenging.

Did you ever try the acupuncture? Did it work? I would be interested in hearing if it did or not. I have heard people having success for migraines but not systemic joint pain.

Hope to hear from you and hope you are doing OK.

Hi @LisaSpillman‍ I am sorry you are struggling with depression and anger stemming from your diagnosis with lupus. I did want to bring your awareness to a discussion that was started by a member in the "Living with Lupus" group, which has turned into a discussion basically for members to share what is going on and receive support.

You can access this discussion here. I thought you may be interested in it and in addition to "venting" here, you may also find it beneficial to share in that discussion also. Hope all is getting better and to hear from you soon.

Hi mvn481 yes ism doing acupuncture....I go twice a week.  It helps for about the first 2 hours after and it is great during....it is nothing that is permanent  but for those 2 hours it is heaven. Without taking all those pills.... wish I had a more permanent answer but at least it is some relief......I would recommend trying it if you can.....God bless and have a great day......🤗😚😍🙏

@LisaSpillman hi lisa - i hear you, some days are just so hard. A level of hard only people living with chronic pain, etc will understand. it can be so isolating to live wit this condition and feel like you're along. i hope you have the support systems that you need to help you get through your harder days.

i tried acupuncture 2-3 times, i can't remember but it didn't work for me. i think for everyone it's different? not sure. it also was somewhat expensive for me so after the 2nd or third time going and it not working, I gave up. perhaps if i had stuck with it longer it would have helped but lack of resources kept me from accessing it.

What does everyone do to help with the depression when they experience it? Does anyone medicate their depression?

I feel the depression I experience is related to my health.

@depressedme i take medication to handle my depression, i am currently on cymbalta and it has helped me a great deal. i still get down or have bad days but it is definitley not to the point of self-harm how it used to be. i hear you, my depression is also related to my health and so if you're able to speak with a psychiatrist - do so and see if medication could work for you too.
