Hello everyone,

How are you today?

With chronic illness often comes many symptoms that can make daily life difficult. I thought it might be interesting for us to talk about lupus symptoms.

If you could get ride of one of your lupus symptoms, which one would it be and why? How would your life change if it were gone? Feel free to share here, you may find that you have some common opinions with others!

@Courtney_J I would LOVE to kick the anxiety and depression my lupus has "gifted" me. It's at its worse when I'm in a flare and I just don't want/can't leave my bed. I'd be much happier without it!

i would get rid of the rash and the after effects of being in the sun,  i can't even tan anymore without worry how i'm gonna possibly flare up as a cause.  beaches used to be so fun,  and they still are!  but i can't wear the bathing suits that i used to wear.  now i have to wear long sleeved ones with swim shorts.  i'd feel like a normal teen and not someone who's sick

I hate that for you, being a teenager and not being able to enjoy the beach like a teenager should does stink. Do your friends understand what you are going through? Some times its hard for people especially young people to understand; you probably don't look sick right?

I'm sure you have been told this lots of times but it's so true... don't sun bathe; no one should,  if for no other reason than not to have as many wrinkles when you get older. Not the advice you want to hear right! I will tell you that a few summers ago i would go on my deck for 20 to 30 minutes at a time with my 4 legged kids (they love the sun) i would stay in the shade but i still got a stupid rash and the scares are still just as noticeable as ever! At my age its not as important well to me to show my legs but as a teenager I'm sure you don't want to be all covered up in clothes. I'm no help i know; its just not fair!

The headaches and exhaustion when I have a flare. I can accept that I need to do 'less'. I can accept that I need to schedule a quiet day before and after a busy day. I have changed my diet to super healthy - no gluten, organic as much as possible, lots of water, yadda, yadda. I rarely eat out, do all the cooking at home, have been forced into early retirement, barely keep up the house, etc. All of that is something I can accept, but these blasted headaches and exhaustion are the pits!
