Hello everyone,

I thought I would open this discussion as the Coronavirus (COVID-19) has been a constant topic in the news and the health community. It's also an important topic for us here, because those with chronic health conditions and/or those who are immunocompromised may be at a higher risk of infection.

As you know, Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses which cause illnesses ranging from the common cold (some seasonal viruses are Coronaviruses) to more severe illnesses such as MERS or SARS. The virus identified in January 2020 in China is a new Coronavirus. The disease caused by this Coronavirus has been named COVID-19 by the World Health Organization.

For more information about the virus and how to protect yourself, please visit either of these reliable and up-to-date sources:

CDC: Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

World Health Organization: Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak

If you feel like you at are a higher risk or may have contracted the virus, please consult the CDC's guidelines on what to do:

Prevent the spread of COVID-19 if you are sick

Are you worried about the Coronavirus? Are you taking any particular steps to take care of yourself or your loved ones? Do you have any advice or opinions to share?

Feel free to share your questions, comments and concerns below.

Take care,

Lee

I have had terrible panic and anxiety attacks about all of this especially when it comes to finances. Is there anyone out there who has been prescribed a good long acting anti-anxiety that works for them? I am going to be calling my psychs office tomorrow Thanks Leah!

@Janjeanm HI, from what I'm have learned so far is to take off your shoes before entering the house, leave them outside if possible. Take a shower right away and change into clean clothes.  Sanitize whatever has been touched in the process. Keep washing your hands and sanitizing.

I hope this helps.

Hello I am not working anymore. I am home with my wife and two kids. I believe it is necessary to stay home and socially distance yourself to not catch the Coronavirus.

I've been social distancing since the second week of March. Because I'm on an immuno suppressent, Ocrevus. I have learned that it doesn't hit the immune system as hard as the other ones because it's selective to just the B cells in my immune system but I'm still taking precaution. The people in my apartment are taking chances and not wearing masks or face covering.thank goodness I live in a town that doesn't have    Thank goodness I live in a town that doesn't have a lot of people in it so we are a little safer.

@leahstanek Hello. I wanted to tell you what my wife and I do. As soon as someone comes home that person must take off the shirts, jackets and pants right away. Next we go to the bathroom and wash our hands for about 20 seconds. I feel by doing this it is very helpful to everyone.
