Hello Friends, Well we are 1 day away from February and I am so weak and I have been in bed. Bed Bound 24--7!! Nothing I can do to change what is happening to me. I am alone and really miss my mother who would help me get thru these flareups. I hope no one else has the problems. If anyone does have these problems--How are you dealing with this new challenge?? Any and All Comments are appreciated. Please feel free to email me.
Ps: GOD, be with Us!!

The shortness of breath from end-stage emphysema makes life difficult. What should take 2 minutes takes a half hour. Where I used to be self-reliant, I now need to rely on help from others (God Bless 'em!).

@dunecitymike I'm not at end-stage yet but I'm getting there. As you know, emphysema is a disease that is progressive even under treatment. I'm at the point where I can't take more than six steps now without having to pause to catch my breath and stairs are impossible without stopping to breathe after going up three of them and it doesn't matter whether I go up one step at a time, pausing with both feet on each step, or alternating to go up the "normal" way. Thank Heaven my condo is on the ground floor of a two-story building. I'm lucky to have a husband who understands and has taken over the household chores, leaving only the cooking and putting away the laundry that he's washed and dried. I smoked from age 10 until I quit at age 71 (I'm now 80) despite the warnings that have been on cigarette packs since, I think, 1959, so it's obvious that I'm responsible for my disease and I just thank God that it's not cancer.

Anxiety.. I still feel so much shame over having anxiety attack in public I had one in the middle of Walmart once and it was so embarrassing. But depression comes in a close second because some days I can't even get out of bed. It's like sludging through mud. He just doesn't get it it has affected me so much that I am a nurse and I'm not even doing nursing now. After the pandemic I lost so many people that I couldn't cope anymore. But there's no PTSD for nurses who went through that. Maybe the worst thing is the insomnia because you don't get a chance to regenerate yourself and get on with the next day you're just tired all the time
