Hi everyone, how's it going?

When temperatures rise, storing medication can become a real challenge, especially for those of us living with chronic conditions. Heat can affect the effectiveness or safety of treatments, particularly if they’re meant to be kept cool or away from sunlight.

πŸ“Œ Here are a few practical reminders πŸ“Œ

πŸ“ƒ Always check the leaflet or packaging:

  • Medications that need to be stored between 2–8Β°C (36–46Β°F) must stay refrigerated and should not be left out for too long.
  • Medications to be kept under 25–30Β°C (77–86Β°F) should be stored away from sunlight, in a cool, shaded room.

πŸš— When transporting medication:

  • Use chilled insulated pouches for sensitive products.
  • Use non-refrigerated insulated pouches for others, always avoiding long exposure to heat, especially in a car.

🧴 Check the appearance of creams or suppositories: if you notice melting, altered texture, or unusual appearance, they should no longer be used.

How do you store your medication during hot weather or heatwaves?

Do you use insulated bags, adjust your fridge routine, or avoid certain activities to protect your treatments?

Have you ever had medication go off because of heat? What did you do?
