I never used to stress or boredom eat until my latest autoimmune diseases PMR & Ménière’s the last 3 years I find myself snacking from boredom and pain I try to only snack on healthier foods oranges, bananas, apples but at times I eat saltines and hard cheese… I used to watch my wife snack often when stressed but I never used partake both autoimmune diseases demand some couch time and cause boredom

I think it all depends on the person you are. I tube feed and I can't eat to drink anything by mouth. But if I could I don't think I could resort to eating when I am stressed or frustrated. For me, I always suggested to my family and friends to try and keep busy or focus on something you enjoy. Could be sports, reading, visiting your friends, etc. The day will go by fast and it would be a nice distraction from whatever your stressed about. Worrying is not going to help you. Take some time to relax and see what your options are.

Because, I no longer drink or smoke, so food has become my addiction to handle my pain, disappointments and depression, and anxities. It's like being on a merry go round that never stops.!!!!

For me, stress is the biggest trigger for eating when I’m not actually hungry. Living with T2 for 7 years, I’ve learned that checking my glucose before reaching for food helps me pause and ask, “Do I really need this, or am I just trying to take the edge off a feeling?” My CGM and meter make it easier to spot patterns, and sometimes just seeing that my numbers are steady is enough to skip the snack. Talking with others who get it has also been a big help.
