Hello everyone,
How are you today?
Turmeric has been used for centuries in traditional medicine, and more recently, scientists have been exploring whether curcumin, the compound that gives turmeric its yellow color, could also benefit the brain.
According to a 2024 review published in Frontiers in Pharmacology, curcumin may offer neuroprotective effects in diseases like Alzheimer's, Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, and Huntington's. Researchers say it works on multiple levels: reducing inflammation, fighting oxidative stress, improving mitochondrial function, and even helping clear protein build-up in the brain.
But while lab and animal studies show promise, human trials are still limited and inconclusive. One big challenge? Curcumin is poorly absorbed by the body unless it's paired with something like piperine (found in black pepper) or delivered in more advanced forms like nanoparticles.
Have you ever tried turmeric or curcumin supplements to support your brain health along with your current treatments?
Do you think natural remedies like this can play a role in managing or preventing neurological symptoms?
Would you be open to trying it if more research confirms the benefits?
