Heart failure, also known as congestive heart failure, results from when the heart does not pump sufficient blood to the body, as it should. There are certain conditions, like coronary artery disease (a narrowing of the arteries), high blood pressure, myocardial infarction (heart attack), and others, that can gradually cause the heart to fail and lead to heart failure.
It is important for individuals to be able to identify initial signs and symptoms of a underlying heart condition to take preventative or proactive measures.
So, let's dicuss these intial symptoms and signs so that this forum can serve as a reference for others, as well as place for those diagnosed with heart failure to discuss with others these initial condition indications.
What were your inital symptoms of heart failure? What prompted you to seek out medical advice / a doctor?

My husband had high blood pressure and lung condition... and his initial signs were severe shortness of breath... we discovered it later than we probably should have because he had shortness of breath already from his lung condition, and then it was until it got really bad that we looked further into it. His fatigue and weakness also became severe too.
