Late 2021 I was diagnosed with Plantar Fasciitis (PF) by a podiatrist who I saw because I thought I had the beginning of neuropathy, as I have been a type 2 diabetic for 18 years. I took her advice and followed all the typical routines to treat PF.
I never had any improvement, and I blamed myself for not putting enough effort in my routines to reduce the impact of PF.
The pain got worse, and I was really suffering with my lack of mobility.
Finally in June of 2025 I got to see another podiatrist and within minutes into the office visit she said, "You do not have PF, you have neuropathy".
She recommended to take vitamins: Alpha Lipoic Acid...200 mg 3 times a day and also Vitamin B complex once a day.
She scheduled me to come back in 8 weeks which is coming up in the next 2 weeks, as she predicted I would have results in that 8-week time span.
Also advised me to really focus on my blood glucose control which is now 6.6 gmi. avg. for the past 6 weeks, down from 7.0.
I experienced improvement within 10 days and after a month I had times I forgot I had a problem and made the mistake to do too much walking, the pain came back.
I am in disbelief that I went through these wasted years where my productivity slumped almost to zero.
Also eager to share this opportunity for people to experience the same improvement.
I told my endocrinologist, and she joked "ALA will save you", referring to the acronym of Alpha Lipoic Acid...LOL!

Hello everyone, how are you feeling today? 💬
Managing diabetic neuropathy pain can be incredibly challenging. For many people with diabetes, nerve pain in the feet, legs, or hands can deeply affect daily life. While keeping blood glucose in range is essential, pain relief often requires additional support.
Common treatments include specific antidepressants or anti-epileptic medications that help calm nerve signals. Some people also benefit from topical creams, physical therapy, or newer techniques like spinal cord stimulation or TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation), which uses gentle electrical pulses to reduce pain.
👉 Have you tried any of these treatments, and what was your experience?
👉 Have you heard of newer options like TENS or spinal cord stimulation? Would you consider them?

Many members face delays in accessing specialists or pain clinics. If that’s been your case too, you’re not alone, and your experience matters.
We’d love to hear what has worked (or not worked) for you. 💬
Take care!
