Metformin is probably if not the most prescribed drug for diabetes, one of the most. You will find many people with diabetes have taken it or are taken it. Some even in conjunction with another medication.
I believe it is used for pre-diabetics as well, as it helps control BG levels; hence, why your doctor may be recommending it. Some people do get adverse side effects, but others get really good benefits.

I take metformin and insulin it's only been a week but so far so good. It was my BP meds that got me sick

Good advisor
As some of you know, I have recently found out I was pre-diabetic. At my last appointment my doctor had recommended Metformin to help control my blood sugar.
I was wondering if anyone can help me understand the safety and side effects and benefits you have seen from its use.
Thank you.
